PCAS upgrade

Are you a student with a University or Bodleian reader card who has never had a PCAS account?

You have an account already set up, the username and password are your card number and password which you use to log in to PCs in Bodleian Libraries or the Bodleian Libraries wifi system. For more information see http://www.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/using/copy/pcas

Are you a student with a University or Bodleian reader card who already has a PCAS account Created before 6th September)?

You will have a new account as above which replaces your old account. If you have money in your old account, you can transfer it to your new account by going to https://pcasportal.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/

Are you a Continuing Education weekly class student or other reader with a local Continuing Education Library card?

If you already have a PCAS accounted created before 6th September, or you do not have an account and would like one, please ask the Library staff



PCAS interim period

The PCAS system is currently being upgraded, the new system is due to go live on Tuesday 6th September.

During this period you can use library printer copiers to

  • Photocopy
  • Scan to USB
  • Scan to email

You can also print directly from a USB device, but only PDF, TIFF or JPEG files (but you can convert Word etc documents to PDF)

There will be NO CHARGE for any service during this interim period.

PCAS is changing!

The PCAS system for printing, copying and scanning in Bodleian Libraries over the summer. New, improved machines are being installed and there will changes to how accounts are managed.

If you have a University card or a Bodleian reader card:

From 6 September PCAS account authentication will switch to the Bodleian Libraries username and password (which is also used to login to reading room PCs and Bodleian Libraries WiFi). Information about this account is available from: http://www.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/using/passwords. Existing PCAS accounts will need to be updated and an online portal and library staff will be available to facilitate this.

This means:

  • One less username/password to remember
  • Automatic creation of accounts
  • No need to enter your account details when you print from a Library PC
  • No need to enter your email address when scanning to email

If you have a Continuing Education Library card:

Please ask library staff if you wish to print. copy or scan

Please note that there will be no PCAS service during the period Tuesday 30th August – Monday 5th September inclusive whilst the new system is installed. PCAS will continue to operate as normal until then.


PCAS Disruption 19th May

On May 19th there will be some disruption to the PCAS system whilst an update is carried out on the server on the server to troubleshoot a problem.

  • The service will be unavailable between 08:00-09:00 and all services will be affected.
  • The update may make the PCAS service run slowly during the morning.

We hope to finish by 12pm

No PCAS 24th-25th March

The PCAS Print, Copy & Scan system is being upgraded on 24th-25th March and will be unavailable for most or all of that period. During the downtime there will be no printing, copying, or scanning or WebPay account services from both Library PCs and RemotePrint. Print jobs sent but not collected before 24th March may not be printable. Scan & Deliver will also be affected.

Please note that this applies to all Bodleian Libraries. Printing facilities in the Student Resource Room and the Graduate School at Rewley House will remain available for those who have access to the rooms.
