New resource – Guocui Xuebao 國粹學報 (1905-1911)

Guocui Xuebao was published continuously from 1905 to 1911 in Shanghai during the final years of the Qing. Edited by the two columnists Deng Shi 鄧實 and Huang Jie 黃節, Guocui xuebao was widely recognised as the mouthpiece of the so called Guocui Pai 國粹派 (Nattiona Essence Group) that advocated a conservative view on China’s political and cultural reform. Frequent writers included Chen Qubing 陳去病, Huang Binhong 黃賓虹, Liu Shipei 劉師培, Lu Shaoming 陸紹明, Ma Xulun 馬敍倫 and Zhang Taiyan 章太炎. The journal is fulltext searchable and offers both HTML text and PDFs of the original articles. The subscription to this database is covered by the National Central Library (Taipei) via the Taiwan Resource Centre for Chinese Studies (TRCCS) programme. The Oxford TRCCS was established in 2015 at the China Centre Library.
