New: TLS Historical Archive 1902-2006

Oxford users now have access to the TLS Historical Archive 1902-2006. It replaces the old TLS Centenary Archive 1902-1990.

The TLS allows you to track the literary activity and critical opinion makers of the 20th century.  More than 250,000 reviews, letters, poems and articles in more than 5,000 issues of the TLS are available, and identities of anonymous contributors are disclosed.

Apart from more content and better display, the search and browsing functionality has been significantly improved.

  1. Full-text searching
  2. Search by book title to locate reviews.
  3. Limit to reviews for musical performances, journals, theatre and exhibitions.
  4. Search terms are highlighted

There is a good essay on the TLS’ anonymous reviewing policy until 1974. Find out who reviewed their own works or those of friends or rivals!

Access is via OxLIP+.
