WISER Sessions in Week 7

Bodleian Libraries will be running the following workshops during week 7:

WISER: Bibliometrics I – Who’s citing you? [Wednesday 6 June 14.00 – 15.00] – An introduction to citation tracking as a tool for finding out who has cited your work. We will cover citation tracking using Web of Science, Scopus and Google Scholar and will include time for you to use each tool to find citations to your own work. WISER: Bibliometrics II – Tools of the trade [Wednesday 6 June 15.15 – 16.15] – Following on from “Bibliometrics I – Who’s citing you?”  this class focuses on using Web of Science and Scopus to calculate research impact in the Sciences and Social Sciences.  We will cover calculating h-indexes, finding the most highly cited journals and discovering hot papers and authors.  In addition we will look at measuring the research output of institutions and countries. WISER: Tech Tools – Reference Management [Friday 8 June 14.00 – 17.00] – Keeping track of your references and formatting them correctly for your thesis or publication is a chore. Reference management software makes it much easier and is worth investigating. This introductory session gives an overview of how it works and the pros and cons of RefWorks, EndNote, Zotero and Mendeley. Presenters: Ljilja Ristic, Ollie Bridle and Angela Carritt.  > Please book your place online.
