Reclassification update Tuesday 16 October

All of the Bodleian History Faculty books on the shelves with the old style shelfmarks have now been reclassified.  The project team are now respacing the new run of books in Library of Congress Classification (LCC) in the Lower Gladstone Link.

There are still some tasks remaining, such as reclassifying material still out on loan, which staff will be working on over the coming weeks.

We now have three main classification sequences:

1) Main LCC sequence
The main LCC sequence that begins in the Lower Camera, continues in the Upper Gladstone Link and finished in the Lower Gladstone Link.  There are regular sized and oversize sections of the sequence on each floor.  These books can be borrowed borrowed by current members of Oxford University, once they have registered as Bod HFL members.
Example shelfmark: DA175.G7 BAR 2011

2) Undergraduate Set Text Collection
The Set Text Collection in the Upper Camera open shelves. This collection is for undergraduate historians taking Options, Special and Further Subject courses.  Reference versions of set texts for the courses are available for using in the Upper Camera only.
Example shelfmark: A978 Gold

3) Local History Collection
The Local History Collection in the Lower Gladstone Link.  This is a small lending collection of English and Welsh local history series. These books can be borrowed borrowed by current members of Oxford University, once they have registered as Bod HFL members.
