lecture by Laura Lee Downs
Professor Downs has published widely on histories of gender and childhood in Britain and France. Her publications include: Writing Gender History (2004), Childhood in the Promised Land: Working-class movements and the Colonies de Vacances in France, 1880-1960 (2002). Director of Studies at the EHESS for many years, she is now Professor of History at the European University Institute in Florence, holding the Chair in Gender History of Europe in the World.
