New History books in the Bodleian (week 21 May)

68 books were received in the Bodleian Library last week and their details have now been added to LibraryThing.

A little later than planned, here are details of new history books received in the Bodleian last week. As usual,  it is a very mixed bag of books with covering all periods and most Western European countries., but particularly medieval historians and German historians will be pleased with this particular weekly crop.

  • medieval history (Huns, daily life in Anglo-Saxon England, Merovingians, Alfonso X, Jewish  gravestones, crusades, mediation, cookery, early Irish church)
  • early modern history (City in London, C18 cartography, history of banking, James II, Renaissance rhetoric)
  • modern history (journalism in Third Reich, Holocaust, terrorism, Welsh miners, London poor)
  • post-1945 history (Life after Gestapo, RAF, French urban planning, 1989 German unification)
  • history of science & medicine (astronomical tables, history of maths, Darwin, science in Nazi Germany, hospitals in Spanish Civil War)

Check these out by using the browse and tag features in LibraryThing to see what is there.
