ORA and Symplectic service disruptions 4pm Monday (7 Dec) to 12pm Tuesday (8 Dec)

Please note that there are two service disruptions today and tomorrow:

roadsignEssential maintenance requiring a power outage will be undertaken tomorrow in one of the Bodleian’s library buildings. In order to ensure our services are able to recover correctly following this power outage, some of our services and servers will begin being shut down from 4pm TODAY (Monday 7 December). They will be restarted as soon as power is restored and we expect to have most services restored by 12pm on Tuesday 8 December.

Some services that will be affected include:

  • ORA
  • Shakespeare’s First folio
  • Fihrist
  • Genizah
  • EMLO
  • Digital.Bodleian
  • Chinese Allegro Catalogue

For a more comprehensive list of affected services, please visit the Bodleian Libraries’ Status of Digital Library Systems and Services webpages.

roadsignA version upgrade of Symplectic Elements (SE) is scheduled to take place tomorrow. Symplectic will be unavailable in the morning of Tues 8 December and we anticipate the service will resume by 12pm. This means that deposit of full-text items via Symplectic Elements will not be possible.

SOLO will be unaffected, however some digital collections will be unavailable during the power outage, for example, Oxford Google Books. However, if you know the author / title, you should be able to find the full-text in the Internet Archive (https://archive.org/).

Apologies for any inconvenience.
