LGBT+ History Month 2023

To celebrate LGBT+ History Month, from 1st February – 28th February, we have created a display using a range of books from our collections which explore LGBT+ History across a wide range of time periods and geographical locations.

As well as the physical books on our display we also have a variety of e-books available on LGBT+ History. As this year’s LGBT+ History Month theme is ‘Behind the Lens’ the following e-books explore LGBT+ peoples’ contribution to cinema and film. Click on the book covers below to access the SOLO record. You will need to make sure you sign into SOLO first, using your Single Sign On, to read these books.

If you’re interested in learning more about recent LGBT+ History projects within Oxford the Pitt Rivers Museum will be giving a talk on the 27th February, as part of their Research Spotlights series. Pitt Rivers staff will be sharing stories of the research they have undertaken to develop new ways of communicating and celebrating LGBT+ History within their displays.
