Pride 2023

Happy Pride Month! To celebrate Pride, from 1st to 30th June, we have created a display using a range of e-books which focuses on the history and experiences of the LGBT+ community.

All of these e-books are available for Oxford University members to read remotely – just make sure you sign into SOLO with your ‘Single Sign On’ first. By clicking on the book covers below you can access the SOLO records of a few of the texts featured on our display.

Women’s History Month 2023

To mark Women’s History Month, from 1st to 31st March, we have produced a display from our collections which focuses on first-hand accounts of women throughout history.

As well as physical books we also have a selection of e-books exploring the personal histories of women. The following texts are available online for Oxford University members to read remotely – just make sure you sign into SOLO with your ‘Single Sign On’ first. LGBT+ History Month 2023

To celebrate LGBT+ History Month, from 1st February – 28th February, we have created a display using a range of books from our collections which explore LGBT+ History across a wide range of time periods and geographical locations.

As well as the physical books on our display we also have a variety of e-books available on LGBT+ History. As this year’s LGBT+ History Month theme is ‘Behind the Lens’ the following e-books explore LGBT+ peoples’ contribution to cinema and film. Click on the book covers below to access the SOLO record. If you’re interested in learning more about recent LGBT+ History projects within Oxford the Pitt Rivers Museum will be giving a talk on the 27th February, as part of their Research Spotlights series. Pitt Rivers staff will be sharing stories of the research they have undertaken to develop new ways of communicating and celebrating LGBT+ History within their displays. UK Disability History Month 2022

To mark UK Disability History Month, from 16th November to 16th December, we have highlighted some of our collections in order to create a display focusing on the history of mental health.

In addition to the books on our display we also have a selection of e-books exploring the topic, which can be read remotely. Click on the book covers below to access their SOLO records. You’ll just need to sign in using your Single Sign On (SSO).

Black History Month 2022

To mark Black History Month, from 1st to 31st October, we have created a display from our collections focusing on contemporary discourses surrounding issues of imperialism, discrimination, and experiences of systemic racism.
