Fines, fines, fines…
As from Monday 18 March it will be possible to settle library fines at any Bodleian lending library, no matter what library the fine is associated with.
Previously for fines accrued across all libraries, payment had to be made at the library where the fine was accrued. Please note that we cannot accept payment for lost books belonging to other Bodleian Libraries or waive fines owed to other Bodleian Libraries.
We hope this small change will improve convenience for readers and save time as we move towards the busy Trinity Term.
Talking of convenience, you may also want to know that you can settle HFL fines and lost book charges online. Just make sure you chose the right category and give correct details otherwise we will be in a muddle!
How to avoid giving the library lots of money for fines and lost books.
- Make sure your email can receive the courtesy notices, sent 2 days before the book is due back.
- The courtesy notice includes instructions how to renew online and in time > How to do that.
- Apart from trying not losing a book in the first place, if you are unfortunate enough to have done so, tell us as soon as possible if you are unable to find it. You can do so using this online form. We are not ogres and will try and help you to a certain degree. Any fines accruing from the date of notification onwards will be waived.
