Welcome to Michaelmas Term 2015

By | 30 September 2015

A very warm welcome to all new and returning students!

Last year we were celebrating our 50th birthday – this year  we are having some renovation work done. To keep our readers fully  informed we have a web page called refurbishment which deals outlines the expected time scale of the works, while we are using a blog page to give particular updates on the actual impact as work progresses (such as any movement of items within our collections).   The times they are a-changin’  as was sung in the year of our birth.

New e-resources

Our major purchase is a year’s access to all law titles on Westlaw UK. (Expected to start on October 1 2015) These titles will not be discoverable via SOLO so please remember to log in to Westlaw UK – and check out the Books page!

We are also having a trial subscription to PLC (Practical law) – however access will require a special (personal) password for each user. Please contact us if you are interested law.library@bodleian.ox.ac.uk

Found the resources but need some help?

Don’t forget that the Law Library offers a range of classes during each full term: details and booking links can be found here http://www.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/law/using-this-library/classes .  Classes range from using current awareness tools to simple database training.  If there are no classes that cover your topic or you cannot make that session, or you want to have one to one training on any of the databases then please consider using our Book a Librarian Service

We also have a large range of jurisdictional, topic and sources based guides online which are designed to give you guidance on what is available to you, and how to find more 24/7.  The index can be found @ http://libguides.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/lawindex About the middle of November 2015 these too will be having a facelift – or rather an upgrade to a better system.
