Images for use in your research – ARTstor, BridgemanEducation and VADS

Bodleian Libraries has subscriptions to ARTstor and BridgemanEducation, both of which are databases that bring together thousands of digital images for use in the humanities, history of science and medicine, and social sciences.  VADS is a similar database which is free for educational use.

We will be running an introductory workshop on ARTstor,  Bridgeman and VADS on Thursday 7 November 9.15-11.15.  This  session will will cover searching for images, viewing, presenting and managing images  and will include opportunities for hands on practice.   Please book you place online.

Digital images for teaching and learning

ARTstor and BridgemanEducation bring together thousands of digital images for research and teaching in the humanities, history of science and medicine, and social sciences.   Bodleian Libraries will be running two introductory sessions on ARTstor and Bridgeman this term. Each session will include viewing, presenting and managing images using the two databases.  

ARTstor and Bridgeman: Using images in teaching and learning (Thursday, 27 October 14.00-15.00) – This session will focus on  images for Medieval & Modern Languages, but members of other faculties are welcome to attend.   Please note that this session will include a talk and demonstration but will NOT include opportunities to try out the databases youself. The session will take place at the Taylor Institution, Room 10b.    There is no need to book – please just turn up.

ARTstor and Bridgeman: Using images in teaching and learning (Tuesday 8 November   14.00-16.00 ) –  A general introduction to these two databases with opportunities for hands on practice.   Please book your place online.
