Pictures for papers & presentations: key resources for digital images

Researchers from many different disciplines require high quality digital images for use in papers and presentations. The Bodleian Libraries subscribe to 2 major repositories of digital images: ARTstor and Bridgeman Education and currently has a third, Archivison on trial. Come along to our workshop on digital images next Wednesday to find out how to use these three resources plus VADS (a free educational resource) to find, view, present and manage digital images.

This workshop which will take place, Wednesday 11 February 14.00-16.00, will be particularly applicable to those in the Humanities, History of Science and Medicine, and Social Sciences. Please book your place online

In Week 4, Bodleian Libraries are running the following course:

Digital images: ARTstor, Bridgeman Education, VADS and Archivision for teaching and learning
(Wed 21 May 2.00 – 4.00)
This course examines three major digital image collections subscribed to by the University – ARTstor, Bridgeman Education and Archivision (new!) – and a fourth resource, VADS, which is free for educational use. All of these are geared to research and teaching in the humanities, history of science and medicine, and social sciences. Viewing, presenting and managing images are also covered.

Bodleian Libraries has subscriptions to ARTstor and BridgemanEducation, both of which are databases that bring together thousands of digital images for use in the humanities, history of science and medicine, and social sciences.  VADS is a similar database which is free for educational use.

We will be running an introductory workshop on ARTstor,  Bridgeman and VADS on Wednesday 12 February 2-4pm (wk 4).  This  session will will cover searching for images, viewing, presenting and managing images  and will include opportunities for hands on practice.   Please book your place online.
