Laptop-free Zone Trial

Partitioned Seating 2 - USE FOR BLOG

Following feedback from several sources, we have decided to trial a Laptop-free Zone in the Library for the duration of Trinity Term 2015.

Although readers who prefer to work without/away from laptops tend to be in the minority (see the results of our “Quiet Study Area Survey 2014”), we feel it is important to provide them with at least one space in the library where they can work separately from other readers who do wish to use laptops.

For the purposes of the trial we have designated the 18 partitioned seats outside the Central Graduate Study Room on the North side of the Library as a Laptop-free Zone (see photo above) and we request that readers do not use a laptop or a device with an external keyboard at these seats. Tablets and other devices with silent keyboards may still be used. The seats in this area will be clearly labelled during the trial period.

Don’t forget that ear plugs are available to buy from the library issue desk for 20p to help you work in peace and quiet.

If you have any comments regarding the trial, please contact us via email, on our Facebook page or via Twitter

Thanks!
