Keep up to date with the latest economic, business, political and international news by reading The Economist.

This popular weekly newspaper is available for free online through the Bodleian Libraries.

View the complete content from 1843 to the current issue via SOLO.

When searching SOLO, as quite a few results will display when entering the search term ‘The Economist’, instead enter the ISSN for the journal, which is 0013-0613. The second result displayed will be for online access: click on the green ‘Online Access’ link:

Three methods of access will display. Note that the first link will only give you full text access to 2015 but does have historical content dating back to 1843.

Choose the second option (via Miscellaneous E-Journals) for full text access from 1997 to the current issue, plus access to additional online only articles:

Once you have clicked on the above link and The Economist website has displayed, it will show tabs at the top of the screen to ‘Subscribe/Log in or register’ but you do not need to do this, as you have already logged in via SOLO. Full text access will display when you click on the image of the issue you wish to read:

It is also possible to view up to date content (from 1992 onwards) via the Proquest link (the third option). This provides full HTML text, with a PDF version available for some articles as well. It does not however display additional online only content.

University card holders can also view the content remotely by logging on to SOLO with your SSO.
