Bodleian iSkills: Free online workshops on essential library skills

The Bodleian iSkills programme is designed to help you make effective use of scholarly materials and resources. They are primarily aimed at Oxford University students and staff (but check the ‘intended audience’ field in the course description before booking).

iSkills workshops will be available in Michaelmas Term through a combination of webinars and pre-recorded videos. Watch this space for titles as they become available.

All workshops are free of charge but must be booked in advance.

Bodleian iSkills: Getting started in Oxford Libraries (Multiple sessions – click here for upcoming dates)

An online introduction to getting started in Oxford libraries, including the latest information on the services and resources available and how to access them. This workshop will feature live demonstrations on how to use SOLO, the University’s resource discovery tool. We will search for a range of material and show you how to get hold of what you want to read. There will be regular breaks for questions.

Finding stuff – scholarly literature for your research (Multiple sessions – click here for upcoming dates)

An online introduction to searching for scholarly materials to support your research, covering a range of tools for finding books, journal articles, conference papers, theses and more.

Referencing: Endnote (Introduction to) (Multiple sessions – click here for upcoming dates) 

EndNote X9 is a desktop based reference management tool for Windows and Macs which helps you to build libraries of references and insert them into your Word document as in text citations or footnotes and automatically generate bibliographies.

Preparing for your literature review in the Social Sciences (Thurs 19 Nov, 10.00-11.30)

Get ready to undertake your literature review using your own research questions to build a successful search and apply it to a range of library resources.
