New Accessibility Equipment: High Definition Magnifier

As part of the Accessibility Equipment bid in the 2017-2018 academic year, the Social Science Library has obtained a “DaVinci Pro” CCTV/OCR magnifier.
The device can display high-definition enlarged images which can be of particular benefit to readers with low vision.

The device also has an Optical Character Recognition mode which can take snapshots of written text and convert them to audio speech.

Please ask Library Staff for assistance and guidance with the device.

New Ergonomic Equipment in the SSL

We’ve recently acquired some new ergonomic equipment which is now available for use in the library.

We have 3 new electric height-adjustable desks:

Two are located in our open plan study area on the east side of the library.

 

The third is located at the back of our main PC area and is equipped with a PC for access to electronic Legal Deposit material.

 

 

 

 

 

 

We also have 4 new ergonomic chairs.

They are located in our:

  • Laptop-free zone
  • Study area (east windows)
  • Study area (south windows)
  • Main PC area (with the height-adjustable desk)
