Noise disturbance in Library: Mon 14 and Tues 15 December

A wooden surface with a variety of tools laid out on it, including a hammer, pliers, screwdrivers, Stanley knife, Alan keys, a drill and screws.

Essential maintenance work will be taking place next week in and adjacent to the Manor Road Building, which will unfortunately cause some noise disturbance in the library.

Monday 14 December: Electricial work to replace distribution boards will involve drilling directly above the Reader PC area.

Tuesday 15 December: Estates Services will be cutting access hatches for some of the building plant rooms. Sections of the floor will be taken out outside the building to the bike racks area and cut with an angle grinder during the day. This is estimated to last 10-15 minutes on 4 separate occasions throughout the day.

Infrequent noise disturbance from 20 August to 10 September 2019

There may be some infrequent drilling noise audible within the Library from 20 August to 10 September 2019.  This is due to lighting replacement work taking place on the upper floors of the Manor Road Building.

Most of the drilling will be completed by 9.00am each day.

Please ask staff for advice on the quietest spaces to work in the Library during this time.

Intermittent noise disturbance in the Library: Sat 27 July

Electrical work will be taking place on the 2nd Floor of the Manor Road Building all day on Saturday 27 July. This will include intermittent drilling. There may be noise disturbance in the library (the area to the left of the Reader PCs) due to this.

The locker room behind reception will also be out of use that day. The water station will be moved from the room and available in the building reception area.

Please talk to Issue Desk staff who can advise on quieter study areas to sit.
