Maintenance work in the SSL Discussion Room Area (Wednesday 4th March)

Construction helmetOn Wednesday 4th March essential maintenance work needs to be carried out on the library fire exit located between our two Discussion Rooms.

This work will unfortunately be noisy at times, with drilling etc but it hoped that it will be finished by noon that day.

During this period we our making are Graduate Study Rooms available for all of our readers to use.

Noise disturbance in the Manor Road side of the Library (Fri 2nd to Fri 9th Jan)

From Friday 2nd to Friday 9th January (week days only) we will be using ‘museum’ vacuum cleaners to clean material on the book shelves adjoining the comfortable seating area located on the Manor Road side of the library. Beside noise disturbance, there may also be increased levels of dust in the vicinity of the rolling stacks.

During cleaning periods the comfortable seats will be unavailable to use.

This is part of a project to revamp the comfortable seating area.

The work that has been taking place to relocate the floor boxes situated under the desks in our main reader computer area will continue on Wednesday 17th December. PCs on individual desks will be out of access as they are worked on. Please be prepared to move to a different PC if requested, or alternatively use a PC in our IT Training Room.

On Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th December work will be carried out to relocate the floor boxes situated under the desks in our main reader computer area. PCs on individual desks will be out of access as they are worked on. Please be prepared to move to a different PC if requested, or alternatively use a PC in our IT Training Room.

From Wednesday 17th to Tuesday 23rd December (dates inclusive) our study carrels will be unavailable for use. This is because work will be taking place to soundproof an additional 4 carrels.

Noise Disturbance: Rolling Stacks Material Cleaning Project

From Friday 21st March to Saturday 12th April we will be using ‘museum’ vacuum cleaners to clean material in the rolling stacks on the Manor Road side of the library. There may also be increased levels of dust in the vicinity of the rolling stacks.

This is part of a project to make the material located in this area findable on SOLO.

Work will generally be restricted to the following times:

9.00 – 11.15 am

2.30 – 3.30 pm
