Limited SOLO Access: Fri 12th to Mon 15th August

SOLO-logoDue to maintenance work taking place on our library catalogue, SOLO will be working in a limited capacity from 17.00 Friday August 12th to 09.00 Monday 15th August.

During this time:

  • You will still be able to search on SOLO but the Find & Request tab will not be visible, so you will not be able to see shelf marks or availability
  • It will not be possible to view or renew your loans
  • It will not be possible to place requests
  • Online access to electronic resources will be unaffected

If you need to find a shelfmark in the Social Science Library just e-mail us and we’ll track it down for you. Or alternatively ask our staff at the issue desk for assistance. You can also find shelf mark information via COPAC (COPAC is the merged online catalogues of many major UK and Irish academic, National libraries and specialist libraries.)

Note that it will still be possible to borrow items from our library during this period.

Possible internet problems

wifi-iconOn Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st of March the University will be migrating its internet connection. There will be outages to connectivity to and from the internet (for both wired and wireless users) between 7 and 9 am on those dates.

All efforts are being made to minimise disruption but we recommend that you don’t schedulae any critical work requiring internet access at those times. Outages should be barely noticeable but it will affect all internet services in both directions. For a short period readers may not be able to access SOLO even from off campus.

  • Develop projects that draw on the large user base and functionality this package has built up

Electrical Shutdown in the Manor Road Building, Tuesday 8th April

flashlight-beam

On Tuesday 8th April there will be a complete electrical shutdown at the Manor Road Building and the St Cross Building to enable contractors to change a vital part.

The shutdown will start at 6 am and may last up to 10 am. If library staff consider it sufficiently safe, the SSL will open as normal at 9 am on 8 April.

No IT facilities or borrowing services will be available until the power is restored and there will be no electrical lighting. Readers will be permitted to study in areas of the library which are lit sufficiently by natural light. Please be ready to show your Reader’s card when entering the library and present any bags for inspection if you leave before the power is restored.

If you have any questions about the shutdown, don’t hesitate to email us at ssl@bodleian.ox.ac.uk, call us on +44 (0)1865 2-71093, or speak to a member of staff in the library.
