Take the SSL home with you: Ways to access library materials remotely

Our books (both normal and short loan) are currently being issued over the vacation. All are due back on Tuesday 26 April 2022 (1st Week of Trinity Term). However, if you have any books out on loan that you no longer need, please do return them to us before you leave.

If you are an Oxford University student and need to access library resources while you are away from Oxford, follow our tips below:

Access e-books, e-journals and databases remotely by logging in to SOLO with your Single Sign On (SSO) Take a look at the Bodleian Libraries SOLO Guide for further information.

ORLO (Oxford Reading Lists Online)

Most postgraduate reading lists are available on ORLO and scans, online articles and e-books can be accessed there.

Scan & Deliver is a free electronic document delivery service which enables you to obtain scans of book chapters or journal articles via email from the Bodleian Libraries’ print collections.

Easter Closure Period

The SSL will be closed over the Easter holiday period from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 April (these dates are inclusive). We will re-open on Monday 18 April from 9am to 7pm. See the SSL homepage for our full opening hours.

 

Vacation Loans start on Sunday 6 March

For both standard and short loans, vacation loans will begin on Sunday of 8th Week (6 March).

All vacation loans will be due back on Tuesday of 1st week of Trinity Term (26 April).

The total number of books you can borrow remains the same.

Please note that journals, statistical series and ‘Confined’ books remain for library use only during the vacations.

Vacation loans start during 8th week of Hilary term. Books (both normal and short loan) will be due back on Tuesday 28 April (1st week of Trinity Term).

SSL eReadings provides scans of selected articles and book chapters on reading lists we support that are not available in e-books or e-journals. SSL eReadings is hosted on WebLearn, log in with your Single Sign On (SSO)

Use the Scan & Deliver service if you need to get hold of a chapter or article from the Closed Stacks. Further information can be found here.

We will be closed from Friday 10 to Monday 13 April 2020 (dates inclusive).

The library will close at 7pm on Thursday 9 April and reopen at 9am on Tuesday 14 April.

For standard loans this will begin on Sunday of 8th Week (8 March) and for short loan items it will begin on Thursday of 8th Week (12 March).

All vacation loans will be due back on Tuesday of 1st week of Trinity Term (28 April 2020).

The total number of books you can borrow remains the same.

All vacation loans will be due back on Tuesday of 1st week of Hilary Term (21 January 2020).

The total number of books you can borrow remains the same.
