Lighting work Summer 2016: top floor, mezzanine

Over the course of the summer, the lights on the top floor of the library will all be replaced. This is a continuation of the project which replaced the mezzanine lighting in 2014 and that on the ground and first floors in 2015. The work is currently scheduled to begin on 18th July and will continue until 9th September.

During this time, the top floor will be closed off to readers in sections. We will offer a fetching service for readers for books in the closed areas. Keep an eye on the blog, twitter, and signs in the library throughout the summer for details on what’s closed off when, and ask staff if you want books from affected areas. The electricians will do their best to keep noise to a minimum.

The final stage of the project will require some additional work to take place on the mezzanine lights in September. The mezzanine will therefore be closed to readers from 12th-23rd September while scaffolding is erected and the work carried out. Access will be maintained to the upper floors throughout.

Network downtime Wednesday 8 June 10.30-12

Due to essential maintenance work, there will be a (hopefully brief) network outage between 10.30am and 12 noon on the morning of Wednesday 8th June. This will affect library PCs, photocopier, and the wifi. We do not expect the downtime to take the full 90 minutes, but network connections may drop out at any point during that time.

Apologies for the inconvenience!
