WISER: Bioinformatics: Sources for research in biology, Wednesday 14th May 2008 (week 4), 12.30 – 1.30, OUCS, Banbury Road. 
The aim of this session is to introduce users to some frequently used internet based bioinformatics resources. The session will cover basic strategies for searching and retrieving DNA sequence data from the GenBank sequence database and also searching a variety of biological science resources using the Entrez cross-database search engine. Users will be shown how to locate bibliographic records, DNA and protein sequence information using Entrez.

This session will look at some tools that can help you organise yourself on the web, including social bookmarking services like del.icio.us, bibliophile
sites like LibraryThing and My WorldCat, and customised start pages.
