Lexis Library users can now search for definitions and information on any legal term they come across. A new field has appeared as part of the Quick Find Box called ‘find a legal term’. This, like most of the boxes in Lexis Library, has the added bonus of a word wheel that offers suggestions as you type. The results will include a legal definition taken from Words and Phrases Legally Defined, 4th ed. It will also have links through to key cases, legislation and definitive works (such as Halsbury’s Laws). It will also link through to related terms.
At the moment Lexis Library has indexed over 850 terms and plans to increase this number over the next few months. They have compiled the list of terms on the lines of popularity, using the most searched for terms on Lexis Library over the last 4 months. However they have said that if there are any legal terms that do not appear but you would like to add them then contact them at feedback@lexisnexis.co.uk and they will add it to the list. Any questions about how this function works or if you want training or a refresher on Lexis Library then contact me at katharine.jackson@bodleian.ox.ac.uk.
