This year, 37% of the respondents said the US shows the most promise for disruptive breakthroughs, while China ranked second with 24%, and India came third with 10%, followed by South Korea (7%), Japan (6%) and Israel (6%). Global Innovation Index – The Global Innovation Index 2013

Cornell University, INSEAD and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO, a specialized agency of the United Nations) co-publish The Global Innovation Index (GII), now in its sixth edition. The GII recognizes the key role of innovation as a driver of economic growth and prosperity and acknowledges the need for a broad horizontal vision of innovation that is applicable to both developed and emerging economies, with the inclusion of indicators that go beyond the traditional measures of innovation (such as the level of research and development in a given country). The GII has evolved into a valuable benchmarking tool to facilitate public-private dialogue, whereby policymakers, business leaders and other stakeholders can evaluate progress on a continual basis.

Mercedes-Benz India has been ranked the #1 automotive company in the reputed “India’s Most Admired Companies” survey byFortune India in collaboration with global management consultancy, the Hay Group. This achievement is special as it is underlined by the opinions of peers from the Indian automotive domain who were also part of the survey.

A total of 552 senior executives across selected companies, which included automotive companies, participated in the survey to rank their peers across a scale of ten parameters—corporate governance, endurance, performance, quality, innovation, financial soundness, leadership, corporate social responsibility, talent management, and global business footprint.

The International Track 200 is an expansion of our International Track 100 league table, which has been published for the past two years, and the minimum sales threshold has been increased from £5m to £25m.

Tiny, biodegradable implants known as Bioneedles may soon replace the syringe, vial and needle trifecta as the standard delivery mechanism for vaccines.

If they are as clean, cheap and reliable as many medical researchers believe, Bioneedles will reduce hepatitis and HIV infection and vaccinate 25 million more children worldwide.

This is one of many massively promising technologies pioneered in the city of Eindhoven, a mid-sized city located in the southern region of the Netherlands.

Forbes.com – China Minsheng Banking’s Hong Qi Tops Forbes China’s Best CEOs List

Hong Qi of China Minsheng Banking topped a new list of China’s best business leaders announced today by Forbes China, the licensed Chinese-language edition of Forbes.

Hong, as the bank’s president, led the company to a 34% rise in net profit last year. Minsheng is China’s largest non-government controlled bank. Hong, who holds a doctorate in economics from Renmin University, is also the bank’s vice chairman.
