As part of its service improvement, the Bodleian Libraries is undertaking to upgrade the PCAS servers on the 24th & 25th March 2015:

  • Please note that during this time, no copying, scanning or printing will be available on these PCAS machines.

  • Other copying services will not be available: users are asked to plan around this disruption to service.

The Bodleian Libraries apologises for this disruption to service.

Students with fines and lost book charges

Pound Sterling coinsWe would like to ask you to clear your fines and lost book charges before the end of the Hilary Term.

Fines and book charges can be paid by cash at the library enquiry desk during staffed hours, or by card via our online payment facility.

Please also note that any fines you have accrued may be paid in any Bodleian library regardless of where they were accrued, but lost book charges for books lost from the Sainsbury Library must be paid to the Sainsbury Library.

Vacation Loans?

Please note that Vacation Loans are only available to those students who have no overdue books or outstanding fines/lost book charges.

To see if you have any fines or outstanding fees on your account, please check your account by signing into SOLO with your SSO.

If you are experiencing any difficulties with your fines or any other matters preventing you from taking out vacation loans, please contact the library at: library@sbs.ox.ac.uk or telephone: +44 (0)1865 288880.

Enjoy your break.

Warning: theft in the library

Red triangle warning signI regret to let you know that one of our students had her laptop stolen from the library yesterday afternoon.  This is a terrible event as we would like you all to feel this is a safe and secure environment, although we know that there is no such place when opportunistic people are determined to take advantage of even small periods of inattention.

Nevertheless we know the laptop was taken by someone who acted very casually and appeared to all as a student, but who did not have an access card as the camera footage shows this person asking someone to let them out.

Can I please urge you all not to leave your laptops or any other personal belongings unattended in the library.  Can I also ask you all please to NOT allow anyone to tail gate when you enter or leave the library, and to be suspicious of anyone who asks you to let them out because they do not have an access card. For the latter, please refer anyone who does not have an access card to the library staff.

Chris Flegg

Even more heating issues|#sbslibwall

2015.03.07

2015.03.06This morning we have found two notes about heating issues:

Hello to both students who have reported “freezing” upper floor.

This is not good – am referring this urgently to our buildings person. It might help to be able to let him have more details know if the temperature dropped at any time or if it was cold all day – can you add any further details.

Chris – who also can’t work when temperatures plummet
