The Sainsbury Library: Opening hours over the Christmas vacation 2015

According to all the news outlets – it’s Black Friday today. We don’t have any bargains on offer for you, but it’s about time to give you more information about access to the library during Christmas and New Year’s break.

SBS students and staff will have access the library whenever the building is open.

The Park End Street building will be closed from 18:00 on 24 Dec until 08:00 on 28 Dec, and again from 18:00 on 31 Dec until 08:00 on 2 Jan 2016. During these times the building will be completely locked and alarmed so there will be no access for anyone.

In the period between these two dates e.g. the 28th, 29th and the 30th the revolving doors will be locked but SBS students and staff will be able to access the school using their access cards, as they would at the weekends.

The Sainsbury Library will be unstaffed from 5pm on Wednesday, 23rd Dec 2015 until Monday, 4th Jan 2016.

BOOKS FROM THE BODLEIAN STACK WILL NOT be available from 5pm on 23/12/2015 until 9AM on 4/01/2016.

Summer 2015: Vacation Loans

deckchairs-355596_1280We are pleased to announce that the Summer Vacation Loans from the Sainsbury Library start on the following dates:

Undergraduates: Thursday, 18th June 2015
MBAs*, DPhils: Monday. 6th July 2015

Items (excluding the Careers and the Desk collections) will be due back on Tuesday 13th October 2015 (Week 1).

*MBAs: Items (excluding the Careers and the Desk collections) will be due back on Saturday 12th September 2015.

Please note that Vacation Loans are only available to students without overdue books and outstanding fines. You can check your account by signing into SOLO with your SSO. Fines can be paid online by card (or at the enquiry desk, during staffed hours, by cash). Judging from the shop displays… it’s almost Christmas! Here we are with some more details about access to the Sainsbury Library during the festive time.

SBS students and staff can use the library whenever the building is open. The Park End Street building will be closed from 18:00 on 24 Dec until 08:00 on 27 Dec, and again from 18:00 on 31 Dec until 08:00 on 2 Jan. The Sainsbury Library will be unstaffed from 5pm on Tuesday, 23rd December 2014 until Monday, 5th January 2015.

Library hours during the vacation

The Library is now on vacation hours, which means that there are staff here Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. SBS members can still access the Library any time that the building is open, as usual.

If you aren’t an SBS member, you’ll have to leave the Library and return your access card to reception by 5pm. (Find out more about accessing the Library as a visitor: https://www.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/business/sainsbury/first-time)

Welcome back! (term-time hours & vac loan due dates)

The library is now back on term-time hours, so we’re here from 9am until 7pm, Monday-Friday. (SBS members can, of course, access the library any time that the building is open.)

There are a few bank holidays this term, where we’ll only be here until 5pm:

  • Monday 7 May
  • Monday 4 June
  • Tuesday 5 June

If you took out any books on “vacation loan”, they’ll be due back on Monday 23 April (1st week).

Vacation Loans & Opening Hours

Vacation Loans begin on Thursday of 8th week (8 March). If you are a student, all books you take out on or after this date will be due back on Monday of 1st week (23 April).

After the end of MBA term (from 11th week), we switch to vacation opening hours. SBS members will still be able to access the library whenever the building is open, but staffed services (including Desk books and non-SBS access) will be limited to 9-5, Monday-Friday.
