Michaelmas Term can be busy. Whether you’re settling into Oxford for the first time or returning for another year, it’s important to make a little space for breaks, creativity and time with other people.
The Radcliffe Science Library’s Wellbeing Programme has been running since 2023, and this term we have another range of free activities to help you step away from your work for a while, recharge and connect with others.
Wednesdays just got better
Every Wednesday, in term, you can pick up a free hot drink between 10am and 12pm from the vending area.
Once suitably caffeinated, come back for LEGO Lunch from 1–2pm in the Wellbeing Room. Build something impressive, build something ridiculous, or just enjoy putting bricks together for an hour. No LEGO expertise required.
Hot chocolate and board games
Pick up a hug in a mug on 10 and 19 November, when we’ll be serving free hot chocolate in the Wellbeing Room from 11am–12pm. Vegan options will be available too.
Then on 24 November, can join us for a Board Game Evening from 5.30–7pm, exclusively for students. Roll some dice, play your cards right and take a proper evening break. Snacks and drinks are provided, and this one needs to be booked in advance.
Worries out, therapy dogs in
As the end of term approaches, we’ll be holding our Shredding of the Worry Box on 1 December. We’ll be taking all the worries, stress and anxieties that people have posted over the term and shredding them. Add hot drinks and cake and it sounds like a pretty good way to mark the final stretch of Michaelmas.
Then on 3 December, the Therapy Dogs are back. If you’re missing a four-legged friend from home, or simply fancy some calm time with a friendly dog, drop into the Wellbeing Room between 12–1pm.
Keep the term card handy
We’ve collected all of the events into a new Michaelmas Wellbeing Term Card, available to pick up in print at the Radcliffe Science Library or digitally here on the blog.
Dates and new activities can also be found on our Wellbeing Calendar, where you can book places for events that need registration.
