Craig Finlay (our Reader Services Librarian) has been recognised for his work in supporting use of the SafePod trusted research environment located within the Bodleian Social Science Library. Organisers of the ESRC funded SafePod Network (SPN) acknowledge the role played by SafePod Coordinators like Craig through an awards scheme. Until recently the highest award was Gold. By managing 200 SafePod bookings Craig becomes the first Coordinator in the UK to receive the Platinum award.  

The SafePod was launched in August 2021 and offers researchers a secure research environment for working with sensitive data recognised by leading data suppliers such as the Office for National Statistics and the UK Data Service.

His dedication and consistent involvement have been instrumental in ensuring the SafePod approach to accessing restricted data remains an option for researchers at the University of the Oxford.
