Vacation loans start on Monday 2nd December

Vacation loans will begin on Monday 2nd December  (Monday of 8th week of Michaelmas Term).

Any items borrowed on or after this date will be assigned a due date of Tuesday 21st January (Tuesday of 1st week of Hilary Term 2025)

If you are an Oxford University student or staff member and need to access library resources while you are away from Oxford, follow our tips below:

Our eBook Subject & Research Guide has lots of information on how to access and use Oxford University eBooks.

ORLO (Oxford Reading Lists Online)

Most postgraduate reading lists are available on Oxford Reading Lists Online ORLO and scans, online articles and e-books can be accessed there. Take a look at the ORLO reading lists webpage for further information.

Scan & Deliver

Scan & Deliver is a free electronic document delivery service which enables you to obtain scans of book chapters or journal articles via email from the Bodleian Libraries’ print collections.

Please note that the Scan and Deliver form will close at 5pm on 17th December 2024 and will re-open at 9am on 2nd January 2025.

Michaelmas Term Vacation Opening Hours

Our opening hours for the vacation (starting on Sunday 15th December) are on our website homepage.

We will be closed from Tuesday 24th December 2024 to Wednesday 1st January 2025 (dates inclusive).

Note that the library will close at 5pm on Monday 23rd December and re-open at 9am on Thursday 2nd January.

Our vacation borrowing period comes to an end today (Tuesday 15 October), and loan periods will operate on term-time rules.

Please bring back to the library any items you originally borrowed on or before 25 June 2024 for return or to re-borrow, as these items have now reached their maximum renewal period of 112 days (16 weeks)

The borrowing period for individual items will also be displayed when you are signed in to SOLO.

Our vacation borrowing period comes to an end on Tuesday 16 January, and loan periods will operate on term-time rules.

Please bring back to the library any items you originally borrowed on or before 26 September 2023 for return or to re–borrow, as these items have now reached their maximum renewal period of 112 days (16 weeks).

Our books (both normal and short loan) are currently being issued over the vacation. All are due back on Tuesday 17 January 2023 (1st Week of Hilary Term). However, if you have any books out on loan that you no longer need, please do return them to us before you leave for the vacation.

We will be closed from Saturday 24th December 2022 to Monday 2nd January 2023 (dates inclusive).

(The library will close at 5pm on Friday 23rd December and re-open at 9am on Tuesday 3rd January).

Vacation Loans start on Sunday 13 June

The end of term is fast approaching and that means vacation loans are about to start.

For both standard and short loans, vacation loans will begin on Sunday 13 June.

All vacation loans will be due back on Tuesday of 1st week of Michaelmas Term (12 October).

The total number of books you can borrow remains the same.

Please note that journals, statistical series and ‘Confined’ books remain for library use only during the vacations.

If you have a study space booked in the library, you will be able to browse our shelves and borrow items. If not, use our Click & Collect service to order items that you require over the vacation and then book a slot ot collect them.

If you need to access library resources while you are away from Oxford, follow our tips below:

SSL eReadings provides scans of selected articles and book chapters on reading lists we support that are not available in e-books or e-journals. SSL eReadings is hosted on WebLearn, log in with your Single Sign On (SSO)

Use the Scan & Deliver service if you need to get hold of a chapter or article from the Closed Stacks. Further information can be found here.

We will be closed from Friday 10 to Monday 13 April 2020 (dates inclusive).

The library will close at 7pm on Thursday 9 April and reopen at 9am on Tuesday 14 April.
