JANUARY 2018

Who is the blog for?

This Knowledge Hub is a NHS Thames Valley and Wessex Leadership Academy (TVWLA) blog.  It has been designed for NHS staff in these two regions who have an interest in the areas of remit of the NHS Thames Valley and Wessex Leadership Academy. It also aims to support NHS staff in these two regions who are undertaking a formal leadership study programme with them or other institutions.

What is it?
The blog aims to be a source of and a signpost to information on leadership, talent management, coaching to name a few. A full list of areas of research can be found in Categories.

It has been developed by Bodleian Health Care Libraries, Outreach Librarian, Liz Callow, and Liz Land, Knowledge Specialist, Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust . It is hosted by the University of Oxford’s Bodleian Libraries  and whose  Web and CMS Developer (Dan Q) and Web and Digital Media Manager (Elizabeth McCarthy) also provide technical support.

Information sources
Information is sourced on a regular basis from a number of high profile organisations, such as the King’s Fund, the Health Foundation, Harvard Business Review and the Ashridge and Henley Business Schools. Alerts have also been set up on two healthcare management databases – Health Business Elite and Health Management Information Consortium , the results of these searches providing  pointers to freely available articles,  articles which may be available to those with an NHS OpenAthens login, and articles which need to be purchased or ordered via a local health library .

Accessing articles on the blog
Three logos after the title will help you identify whether the article ….

If you work for Health Education Thames Valley (HETV) or Health Education Wessex (HEW), please contact either Liz Callow (Thames Valley) or Liz Land (Wessex) if you need help sourcing the full text of articles. They can also carry out in-depth literature searches on any healthcare, service improvement or management topic for staff in HETV and HEW.

If you are based outside HETV or HEW, please contact your nearest NHS Library. Details of nearly 800 health libraries in the UK and the Republic of Ireland can be found here.

These services are usually free to eligible staff. Articles can also be ordered for a fee at any public library.

NHS OpenAthens accounts
NHS staff may find it beneficial to read the page on the blog about registering for an NHS OpenAthens account to facilitate access to articles. There is also information on this page on forgotten passwords, updating your details if you change organisation, etc.

Links to a selection of other organisations related to the fields of leadership, talent management and coaching are also provided here.

Feedback and suggestions
A feedback form is available to you should you wish to comment on the blog, and there is also a form where you can suggest a resource to be included.

Thank you.
